Bonkers, brilliant and ready to return – Fuck Buttons have confirmed details of their new album and a lengthy British tour.
Forming in Brighton, Fuck Buttons truly exist in a world of their own. Representing something of the contrary nature of the music scene that spawned them, the duo are true innovators, capable of moving from heart-rending melody to ear-bleeding noise in the flick of a guitar pedal.
Quickly gaining immense word of mouth hype due to their savage live shows, Fuck Buttons soon began attempting to put their raucous noise down on tape. The limited edition single ‘Bright Tomorrow’ would become a favourite with critics, who lavished praise on their visceral songcraft.
Debut album ‘Street Horrrsing’ was released via ATP Recordings, and became a surprise success. Amid an increasingly commercial British indie scene here was a band who were unafraid to be different.
With their epic sound and sweary name Fuck Buttons have unsurprisingly found daytime radio play hard to come by. Touring heavily, the band have built a fan base through good old fashioned hard work.
Now the band are preparing to return with their new album ‘Tarot Sport’. Recorded in London with legendary DJ Andrew Weatherall at the controls, the new record continues their experimental approach but is much more refined.
Whereas before Fuck Buttons were like a blazing AK-47, now the duo are more akin to a highly trained sniper. Weatherall has pulled out the best in the band, adding some subtle shades to their laptop fuelled assault.
The first single to be taken from the album will be ‘Surf Solar’, which Andrew Hung describes as “without a conscious effort, this track acts as a bridge between ‘Street Horrrsing’ and ‘Tarot Sport’….it has an emotion attached to it that is unique to us: one of anxiety. It’s an urgent track.”
