Frightened Rabbit / Twilight Sad Team Up

'First Edition' gains physical release

Members of Frightened Rabbit and The Twilight Sad have teamed up on a new album.

The Scottish indie scene has never been healthier. Some of the finest music to cross our path last year came from Caledonian acts, with superb albums being released from Frightened Rabbit, The Phantom Band and more.

Now a new album has been confirmed featuring some of the brightest talents from the Scottish scene. The Fruit Tree Foundation was formed last year, as part of an ongoing charity project with the Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival.

The collective features some extremely talented songwriters. Frightened Rabbit frontman Scott Hutchison lends his talents, with the group also featuring James Graham from fellow Fat Cat signings The Twilight Sad.

The massive group also featuring Fife troubadour James Yorkston, former Delagado turned acclaimed solo artist Emma Pollock, folk type Alasdair Roberts and more.

Departing to a house in the Scottish countryside for a few days last year, each members chipped in on the songwriting. The Fruit Tree Foundation then unveiled their creations during two special shows, one each for Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Taking place last October, the material has gained a cult following. Now rejuvenated Scottish label Chemikal Underground is stepping in to give The Fruit Tree Foundation a physical release.

The collective’s album will be released on June 28th, with the project involving three separate charities: The Mental Health Foundation, A Scottish Wave of Change, and Breathing Space.

There – got through the whole news item without once mentioning The Reindeer Section… D’oh!
