Friendly Fires Tackle ‘Late Night Tales’

Out on November 5th...

Friendly Fires are set to take charge of the 30th instalment of ‘Late Night Tales’.

Friendly Fires have long admitted a debt towards club culture. The band regularly cover house favourites in their set, while Jack Savidge is well known as a DJ and promoter with the Deep Shit project.

Now the band are to take charge of Late Night Tales. The 30th instalment in the series, the mix will be released on November 5th and is set to be available as a download, on CD and as a double vinyl pack.

Looking at the tracklisting, Friendly Fires’ ‘Late Night Tales’ opens with a flurry of disco grooves before veering towards the left field. Dropping Bibio, Stereolab and more the mix then flows out with near ambient tones.

Picking cuts from Grouper, Slowdive and more, the mix ends with a new Late Night Tale. Narrated by ‘Sherlock’ star Benedict Cumberbatch, the story is set to unfold over subsequent editions.

There are some big hitters on here – SBTRKT’s ‘Hold On’ for one – but also some total curveballs: step forward Olivia Newton John with ‘Love Song’.

Here’s a teaser video.
