Hugely hyped indie group Friendly Fires are set to release their self-titled debut album on September 1st it has been announced.
Emerging from St Albans, Hertfordshire, Friendly Fires have known each other since school where they play math rock influenced music in a variety of bands. A far cry from their current sound, then, which is rooted in a careful study of the pop song. Their single “Paris” was rapturously received by the music press, who praised the band’s mixture of rock dynamics and electronics.
The debut album has been two years in the making, and was recorded entirely on a laptop by the band themselves. The trio count German label Kompact as an influence, and with these fluid grooves its easy to see why. After three limited edition singles, it’s time for the rest of us to hear what the fuss is all about.
Friendly Fires will release their debut album on September 1st through XL Recordings.
Friendly Fires will also be playing the following UK dates during the summer:
July 11th – Ireland, Oxygen Festival
July 23rd – Tunbridge Wells, Forum
July 24th – London, Soho Revue Bar
