Freebass Debut Album Due

Manchester icons prepare LP

Manchester icons Freebass have confirmed details of their long awaited debut album ‘It’s A Beautiful Life’.

Freebass seem to have existed half in rumour for some time now. Formed by Peter Hook, Mani and Andy Rourke the project united three music legends but it seemed that new material was thin on the ground.

Suddenly, though, the band snapped into action. A debut EP dropped last year, with Freebass toasting the release with a hometown show at the Factory venue.

Now it seems that the band have completed work on their debut album. Uniting three stellar talents, Freebass have plenty of experience between them boasting some of the most seminal material ever produced by these isles.

Completed by singer Gary Briggs, the line up is battle hardened after a quicksilver series of dates earlier this summer.

Due for release through their own Hacienda Records imprint, ‘It’s A Beautiful Life’ will be released on September 20th. Available as a digital download, the album is set to be expanded for a physical edition.

‘It’s A Beautiful Life’ will be expanded for a special 2-CD edition, including a raft of unreleased material. The final CD will come with three completely unheard tracks, alongside a bonus CD of instrumentals.

Moving from Northern Soul to dub, punk to funk Freebass rely on a lifetime of making music. Never resting on their laurels, echoes of their past groups can be heard in the album without seeming indulgent.

At times dark and brooding, much of the album is euphoric with crowd pleasing indie rock such as ‘She Said’. More downbeat efforts such as ‘Stalingrad’ reveal a mature songwriting talent, from three members better known for their prowess on the bass guitar.

Freebass are due to release their new album ‘It’s A Wonderful Life’ on September 20th.
