Freddie McGregor Plays 50th Year Concert

Giants of Lovers Rock hits London

Freddie McGregor, veteran reggae star who brought such hits in the eighties as ‘Bobby Babylon’ and ‘Just Don’t Wanna Be Lonely’ celebrates his fiftieth year in music this year, and this Friday (23 Sept) headlines the Indigo O2.

The night is the third in the series of lovers rock galas called Giants of Lovers Rock, featuring classic performers such as Janet Kay (‘Silly Games’), Carroll Thompson (‘Hopelessly in Love’) and Susan Cadogan (‘Hurts So Good’) as well as newer artists making names in this famous feelgood genre which became big in South London and travelled to Jamaica.

Freddie McGregor, as well as his achievements in music making, has also built one of the most powerful families in reggae. His son Stephen ‘di Genius’ created riddims like Pepper which has featured dancehall artists like Mavado and Shabba Ranks.
