Fräulein Announce Debut Mini-Album ‘Sink Or Swim’

Listen to Day And Night versions of new single, 'Feels Like Flying'...

Northern Irish/Dutch duo Fräulein – Joni Samuels and Karsten van der Tol – have today announced the release of their debut mini-album, ‘Sink Or Swim’, out June 14th via Submarine Cat Records.

Alongside the announcement, the band have shared double single ‘Feels Like Flying’, offering up a ‘day’ and ‘night’ version of the song. ‘Feels Like Flying (Day)’ is a calvacade of vocal yelps, heavy percussion and swirling guitar curlicues, and the ‘Night’ edition – the original – is considerably more downbeat and contemplative. The mini-album is an extension of the world-building of this dual release, a showcase of “the duo’s limitless potential, their feel for tension and release, and the complex undertows within Samuels’ lyrics”.

“I reject the belief that an artist should arrive fully-formed,” says Joni Samuels. “I love when you can see artists’ growth, their progression. I want to always be getting better at playing music, at expressing emotion. This new record, ‘Sink Or Swim’, is the first time we’ve really translated what we can do live to the recording studio.”
