Franz On New Album

Band Discuss 'Tonight: Franz Ferdinand'

Franz Ferdinand have given a new interview in which they discuss their forthcoming comeback album ‘Tonight: Franz Ferdinand’ the band’s first in nearly four years.

Glaswegian indie troopers Franz Ferdinand virtually set the ball rolling for countless groups when their single ‘Take Me Out’ crashed into the Top Five. Their self-titled debut album came soon after, and soared to the top of the charts as the band became the toast of the critical world.

However, Franz Ferdinand have been largely inactive since the release of ‘You Could Have It So Much Better’ in 2005. Forthcoming comeback album ‘Tonight: Franz Ferdinand’ is said to be dense and varied, and by far the band’s most complete work to date.

Alex Kapranos told US magazine Rolling Stone that ““it’s not so much a dance record or a rock record — to me it’s a nighttime record”.

“It captures every element of the night, from charging yourself up before you go out on the most hedonistic night of your life, to being on the dance floor, to sitting in your bed rocking yourself to sleep.”

Containing dance, afro beat and rock influences, the new album is highly ambitious with Kapranos admitting “we’d record one song five different ways, which is where the luxury of time comes in.”

‘Tonight: Franz Ferdinand’ is set to be release in the New Year.
