Franz Ferdinand Split Single

With Dutch indie group

Scottish indie gentry Franz Ferdinand are set to release a split-single with Dutch group De Kift.

Franz Ferdinand are back, and it seems there is no stopping them. Having been stuck in the studio for some time putting the finishing touches to their third album, the band have prepared a blaze of releases scheduled for throughout the year.

The group released ‘Tonight: Franz Ferdinand’ earlier this year, to warm acclaim by fans and critics alike. Spawning the singles ‘Ulysses’ and ‘No You Girls’ the album is perhaps the band’s most musically accomplished and daring to date.

But that isn’t all fans can expect, with a Dan Carey produced dub version of the album due to drop later in the year. Alongside that, singer Alex Kapranos has revealed that the band will release a split single with Dutch group De Kift.

Alex Kapranos explained in a blog posting on Myspace that “we have covered ‘Heisa Ho’, by the Dutch punk band De Kift, who are covering ‘Love And Destroy’ themselves for a split-single. Both versions are very different from the originals.”

Franz Ferdinand are no strangers to split releases, in the past sharing a seven inch with reformed post punk heroes The Fire Engines. Alex Kapranos also revealed that he has been remixing Little Boots’ new single ‘New In Town’.

“When we were at the NME Awards I met Victoria Little Boots. I’ve remixed her great new single ‘New In Town’ as a version called ‘No One Is Safe.'”

Continuing Kapranos said “I made it in a similar way to the ‘Blood’ LP of alternative versions of our last LP (‘Tonight: Franz Ferdinand’), which (record label) Domino has just released”.

“It’s still my favourite way to listen to the record.”
