Fans of Scots indie titans Franz Ferdinand will have to wait a little bit longer for their new album – it has been delayed until January 2009, according to reports.
The band have been hard at work on the new album, but apparently it’s taking longer than they anticipated with a release of January 2009 hesitantly pencilled in their diaries. Franz Ferdinand last released an album – “You Could Have It So Much Better” – in 2005.
Franz Ferdinand retreated to Glasgow in late 2007 to record the new album, which is said to have an afro-beat influence. In addition to these setbacks the band have also parted ways with initial producer Brian HIggins. The producer is famed for his work with pop stars such as Girls Aloud, but the two parties came to an amicable agreement that things simply weren’t working.
The band have played several new tracks live, and are set to make only a handful of festival appearances this year – notably at Scotland’s Connect festival.
