Frankie & The Heartstrings Head Out On Tour

Kidnap Edwyn Collins' son

Frankie & The Heartstrings have apparently kidnapped producer Edwyn Collins’ son.

Hailing from Sunderland, Frankie & The Heartstrings are taking music back into a DIY environment. Releasing a series of one off singles on their own Pop Sex imprint, little by little the amount pressed has increased.

Recording with producer Edwyn Collins, the two struck up a friendship. Dropping by the studio, Edwyn Collins’ son was quite taken with the sound of the Sunderland group – and agreed to follow them on tour.

New single ‘Ungrateful’ is out now, with Frankie & The Heartstrings set to follow this with a short British tour. The dates are due to launch soon, with Edwyn Collins son apparently set to take care of the merchandise stall.

Speaking to the NME, singer Frankie Francis revealed that the band recently flung Will Collins in the back of their tour van.

“We’ve hijacked his son for the tour!” he revealed. “Will came along to sell merch for us and (tour co-headliners) Summer Camp. I don’t know if his mum and dad know that he’s in Wales tonight but he’s just kind of turned up an hour and a half ago!”

However Edwyn Collins needn’t worry about his son’s rock ‘n’ roll antics. Frankie & The Heartstrings revealed that Will Collins “is not going to be going out and getting himself into mischief” while on tour.

Meanwhile, Collins Snr has a tour of his own to attend to. Edwyn Collins recently released his new album ‘Losing Sleep’ and kicked off a series of nationwide dates in support of his startling new album.

Frankie & The Heartstrings are due to play the following shows:

October
6 Glasgow Stereo
8 London Lexington
9 Newcastle Cluny
10 Nottingham Stealth
