The 80th annual Academy Awards have been and gone, and amongst the big winners of the night were Irish rock band The Frames.
The influential and long-standing Irish group picked up the Oscar for “Best Music (Song)” in recognition of their work on the acclaimed film “Once”. Written and directed by the band’s ex-bassist John Carney, the film featured the song “Falling Slowly”, sung by Frames’ guitarist Glen Hansard and guest singer Maketa Irglova.
The Frames are no strangers to Hollywood success – Hansard previously starred as “Outspan” Foster in “The Commitments”.
Elsewhere on Oscar night, the award for “Best Music (Score)” went to “Atonement”, with its sublime Dario Marianelli score.
