Four Tet Has Remixed The Cure’s ‘Alone’

He's retooled the goth legends...

Four Tet has remixed The Cure’s epic comeback single ‘Alone’.

The revered English producer played a special London show over the weekend, and – as is habit – dropped a few snippets of new material into the set.

Those with keen hearing would have noticed something pretty special indeed, with Four Tet unveiling a new remix of The Cure.

Seemingly the producer – real name Kieran Hebden – is a long-time fan, and was invited to rework the band’s single ‘Alone’.

Shared last year, ‘Alone’ was an epic return; CLASH writer Sam Walker-Smart wrote:

Still, we’re happy to declare ‘Alone’ as some of the best material since the early nineties. While ‘Bloodflowers’ is nothing to sleep on, there’s already a drive, a longing apparent on this ‘Songs Of A Lost World’ cut that elevates things to another level. This is a stunning return that makes us more excited for the whole package.

A clip of Four Tet’s remix has gone live on Instagram – an atmospheric rendering of Robert Smith’s aching vocal, it’s layered in painterly electronics.

It’s on the sixth slide – check it out below.
