Ellie Goulding has shared the Four Tet remix of her single ‘Easy Lover’.
The two have an unlikely but solid friendship, with their creative paths crossing more than a decade ago. Ellie sang on Four Tet’s 2020 single ‘Baby’, taken from his album ‘Sixteen Oceans’; the producer also sampled her song ‘The Writer’ on his single ‘BACK2THESTART’.
‘Easy Lover’ was released a few weeks back, and found Ellie Goulding working alongside Greg Kurstin and Julia Michaels in the studio. Four Tet’s remix twists the song in startling directions, injecting lucid electronics into the studio palette.
The results sit definitely in his oeuvre, feeling more like an Ellie Goulding feature on a Four Tet track – testimony to the producer’s inventiveness, but also to Ellie’s own often overlooked status as a vocalist.
This is the second Four Tet remix of a Goulding moment – he also delivered a remix of Ellie’s 2013 hit ‘Burn’.
