Emerging duo Forgetting You Is Like Breathing Water have shared their new self-titled album.
The group are currently on tour with Mabe Fratti, but have paused to share a full-length project. Out now, the eponymous album was recorded in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and there’s a sense of that unique geography imprinted on the music itself.
Fragmentary sketches that embrace the freedom of jazz, Forgetting You Is Like Breathing Water blend elements of abstraction with a thirst for melodic coherence.
Featuring six tracks, the music contained herein was built without any particular ending in sight – granting themselves full independence, the pair allowing the ideas to unfurl at their own pace.
Forgetting You Is Like Breathing Water – trumpet Will Evans, and guitarist, synthesist, producer and multi-instrumentalist Theo Trump – are tethered by friendship, and this intimacy allows the music to take on its true form.
“Theo is my oldest friend,” Evans says, “and I feel like that’s what this band is — us meeting right in the middle of our interests.”
A beautiful experience, the album charms through its low-key intensity, and haunting though picturesque qualities.
Tune in now.
