Ford & Lopatin Announce New Album

UK tour dates confirmed

Ford & Lopatin have confirmed a full UK tour ahead of the release of new album ‘Channel Pressure’.

Two revered names in American electronica, Joel Ford and Daniel Lopatin grew up together. Achieving acclaim under solo ventures, the pair delighted fans of analogue synths by deciding to team up.

Going under a variety of pseudonyms, Ford & Lopatin eventually decided to use their surnames. Adding an air of authority to the project, the pair are planning to release new album ‘Channel Pressure’ on June 7th.

Renowned for their fuzzy, retro-Futurist take on electronic music, Ford & Lopatin have spoken about some of the points of inspiration on ‘Channel Pressure’.

Citing jazz-fusion as their first love, the pair name Chick Corea and Mahavishnu Orchestra as a real influence. “Years later it was Prefuse 73 and Matthew Herbert, but jazz fusion was what we really geeked out on when we were kids,” admits Lopatin.

Separated by some distance, the pair grew up to have a love of vintage sounds. Produced by Prefuse 73, new album ‘Channel Pressure’ contains hints of years spent listening to warp jazz-fusion cassettes alongside the odd Italo mix or two.

A concept album, ‘Channel Fantasy’ features a teenage anti-hero (Joey Rogers) who battles against an evil record industry. Based on experience guys?

Ford & Lopatin have arranged a series of British tour dates, including both live sets and DJ slots. Opening in Bristol, the pair will alternate between Britain and the continent for over a month.

Closing with a slot at Primavera, the pair will perform live at the Southbank Centre on April 9th. Meanwhile, Ford & Lopatin have also been booked by Glasgow’s Optimo DJs for a special slot.

The following dates have been confirmed:

7 Bristol Arnolfini
9 London QEH Foyer
10 Glasgow Sub Club
12 Dublin Button Factory

28 Barcelona Primavera
