Former Blur drummer Dave Rowntree has announced his intention to stand for parliament in the next general election.
The Labour man has been involved with the party for a while, failing to get elected to the Marylebone High Street ward of Westminster City Council in April last year. Rowntree has announced his intention to run against the sitting Conservative MP in the Cities of London and Westminster Constituency.
Rowntree is said to be keen to help the areas poorer constituents. With Blur on hiatus, the drummer has plenty of free time to draft up his plans for the election.
