Foo Fighters have vowed to continue, but will be a “different band going forward”.
The group were dealt an unimaginably cruel blow last year, with the loss of inimitable drummer Taylor Hawkins. A huge presence within Foo Fighters, his sudden loss stopped the band in their tracks.
Two memorial concerts – one in London, one in Los Angeles – took place alongside an all-star cast, a testament to the enduring legacy of Taylor Hawkins, and the esteem with which he was held by other musicians.

Closing a difficult year, Foo Fighters have shared a full statement to fans, touching on their loss while looking to the future.
“Foo Fighters were formed 27 years ago to represent the healing power of music and a continuation of life,” the statement reads. “And for the past 27 years our fans have built a worldwide community, a devoted support system that has helped us all get through the darkest of times together. A place to share our joy and our pain, our hopes and fears, and to join in a chorus of life together through music.”
“Without Taylor, we never would have become the band that we were — and without Taylor, we know that we’re going to be a different band going forward.”
