Los Angeles based avant hip hop producer Flying Lotus is streaming his new album ‘Cosmogramma’.
Over the past five years, something truly bizarre has happened to hip hop. After years focussing on the machismo of the MC the attention has switched to those little known beat boffins – the producers.
Pulling hip hop into the 21st century are a new breed of artists, such as Flying Lotus. Real name Steven Ellison, the producer has already released a stream of material – if you’re not familiar, prepare to catch up.
Lauded by the likes of Radiohead singer Thom Yorke, Flying Lotus is preparing to release his new album.
Containing a raft of guest appearances, ‘Cosmogramma’ is literally a world apart from previous effort ‘Los Angeles’. Whereas his previous work was informed by his locality and childhood, ‘Cosmogramma’ is a much more outward looking experience.
Fusing hip hop beats with dubstep, cracked electronica and more the new album is a tour de force. Featuring guest appearances from Thom Yorke and countless others ‘Cosmogramma’ is available to stream now.

Meanwhile, Flying Lotus has just completed an ambitious radio broadcast to launch the new album. Taking place last week (April 20th) the show was broadcast live from Los Angeles, and featured plenty of surprise guests.
Flying Lotus is set to release ‘Cosmogramma’ on May 3rd.
