Flying Lotus appeared to show support for The Gaslamp Killer at the end of his show at Hollywood Cemetery Forever.
Twitter user @chelseaelaynne posted a statement online last week, accusing The Gaslamp Killer of drugging and having non-consensual sex with both her and her friend RaeAn in 2013.
She wrote: “The Gaslamp Killer drugged my best friend and myself at a party at the Standard Hotel, had non-consensual sex with both of us while we were completely incapacitated, and then dumped us back in front of the standard after it happened.”
The response was immediate. Low End Theory dis-associated themselves from long-time cohort The Gaslamp Killer, while label Brainfeeder placed a firm line between themselves and the producer, commenting:
“Brainfeeder has always been a safe, inclusive space for artists of all types and we do not condone assault in any shape or form.”
Brainfeeder founder Flying Lotus performed at Hollywood Cemetary Forever on Saturday (October 14th) and played a Gaslamp Killer track at the end of his set.
Speaking to the crowd, he said: “The internet is a fuckin’ liar. Ain’t nobody judge and jury but the fuckin’ law, okay?”
The producer then added: “Thank you guys so much for coming, let truth and justice have its day.”
The remarks did not go down well with fans, many of whom voiced their disapproval:
@flyinglotus ended his set with some bullshit rape apology. @GASLAMPKILLER #FlyingLotus #GaslampKiller

/blockquote>Been going to #FlyingLotus shows for almost a decade—horrible to see him end such a pinnacle set by straight-up calling a rape victim a liar https://t.co/FRchdZL0UM
