Flying Lotus Apologises For Gaslamp Killer Comments

"I realise they were insensitive..."

Flying Lotus has apologised to onstage statements he made relating to accusations of non-consensual sex lodged against The Gaslamp Killer.

The Gaslamp Killer was accused last week of drugging and having non-consensual sex with two women in 2013, accusations he has since denied.

Despite this, several organisations close to the producer have cut ties – Low End Theory no longer work with the DJ, while Brainfeeder reiterated in a statement that he is no long signed to them.

Flying Lotus performed at Hollywood Cemetary Forever at the weekend, and spoke to the crowd at the end of the show, saying:

"The internet is a fucking liar. Ain’t nobody judge and jury but the fucking law, OK? …Let truth and justice have its day."

The impromptu speech caused huge offence, with the producer now offering an apology to HipHopDX. He said:

"I wanted to sincerely apologise for my comments at my show. I realise they were insensitive. This is a tough time for all of us, men and women. I’m having trouble finding my voice in all of this. I am truly heartbroken."

"My stage has always been a place for what’s in my heart until now. I feel as internet-wielding people we have to learn to give each other space to feel, to honour each other’s reactions and experiences without bullying. I care about this community and its impact so much."
