Legendary New York post punk group Liquid Liquid will have their impact on music re-assessed when their output is re-issued on May 19th.
Although they only existed for a short time, Liquid Liquid went a long way to soundtracking early 80s New York. Blend punk with funk, and taking along No Wave and Krautrock for the ride, the band’s strange, groove-led sound dominated the city’s radio stations. Signed to the legendary 99 Records, the group successfully sued Sugarhill records after epic early hip hop classic “White Lines (Don’t Do It)” half-inched their bass-line.
Long out of print, the Liquid Liquid back catalogue contains some of the most inspiring and downright funky music created in the ferocious melting pot of early 80s Manhattan.
Re-issued along with 12 unreleased tracks, its time that this band’s output was given the prominence it deserves.
“Slip In And Out Of Phenomenom” by Liquid Liquid is released on May 19th, through Domino Records.
