Florence And The Machine singer Florence Welch has given a new interview in which she claims the band’s debut album is the product of a lifetime’s work.
Florence Welch is a well known figure in London. A staple of the city’s open mic scene, the singer had previously worked with Lightspeed Champion and Razorlight frontman Johnny Borrell.
Forming Florence & The Machine, her kooky electro grooves swiftly won a cult following with record labels doing battle for her signature. Scooping a Brit Award for ‘Critic’s Choice’ the group’s debut album ‘Hands’ arrives with no small amount of hype.
With huge press attention, and predictions of chart stardom to live up to, the album is struggling to be heard beneath the hype. Yet despite it all, ‘Lungs’ remains true to Florence Welch’s creative spirit.

In a new interview with the NME, Florence Welch reveals that she regards the album as the culmination of a lifetime’s work.
“This album feels like a culmination of 22 years of my life,” declared Welch. “A scrapbook of events, things I’ve seen, people I have met, dreams and nightmares, and now seems like the right time to release it into the world. If it was up to me I would never finish it, but I have to let this one go now so I can start another scrapbook.”
Florence & The Machine have won the admiration of one of Britain’s most legendary groups. Blur have hand picked the support bills for their upcoming reunion shows, with Florence And The Machine set to join them when the Britpop giants play Manchester’s enormous MEN Arena.
The group are planning a summer assault on British eardrums. With debut album ‘Lungs’ due for release on July 6th, the band are set to play a host of UK tour dates. In addition to this, Florence & The Machine are set to a range of festivals including Hop Farm and the Eden Sessions.
