Fast rising British talent Florence & The Machine have confirmed that their next single will be ‘Drumming Song’.
Florence Welch is a well known figure on the London music scene. The singer has tried for years to get her music noticed, attracting the attention of people such as Lightspeed Champion and Razorlight frontman Johnny Borrell.
It wasn’t until she formed the ramshackle collective known as The Machine that Welch began to gain wider exposure. Florence & The Machine toured extensively last year, with the group being widely tipped to break through.
The band won the ‘Critics Choice’ award at this year’s Brits, with Florence & The Machine performing at the ceremony. However that smash hit single has thus far eluded them, despite building a large fan base.
Debut album ‘Lungs’ won critical acclaim, and soared into the UK charts at number two. Selling an astonishing 67,000 copies the album is the year’s fastest selling debut album thus far, and was only halted in its rush to the top spot by Michael Jackson.
Recently performing at T In The Park, Florence & The Machine are currently touring the UK. However the band are due to find time to release their new single ‘Drumming Song’ on September 7th.
A highly charged love song, it is fuelled by passion and fear. An example of Florence Welch’s rapidly emerging songwriting skills, the single was a stand out track on debut album ‘Lungs’.
The new single comes complete with a sensational new video. Directed by Dawn Shadforth – whose previous credits include Oasis and Kylie Minogue – the promo sees Florence battling with her angels and demons in a grand old church.
With a host of tour dates planned for later in the year, it seems as if Florence & Machine’s success is only going to increase.
