Floating Record Shop Rubber Ducky Re-Opens

Floating record shop Rubber Ducky has re-opened following a fan-led campaign.

The record shop – loosely based around the canals of Manchester – earned a cult following, nestled in a canal boat. The inventive design and carefully curated stock made Rubber Ducky a local hero, a point of contact for inquisitive fans.

Disaster struck in 2023, however, when the boat sank, jeopardising its future in the process.

Fans spearheaded a campaign to get Rubber Ducky Records floating once more, with founder Myles Greenwood expressing his thanks. “I’m so unbelievably thankful for all the support and generosity since the sinking,” he wrote. “Whether it was a message, a GoFundMe donation or a hug, thank you so so much. Humanity really is incredible.”

A GoFundMe campaign raised more than £10,000, with Rubber Ducky now ready for vinyl-digging appointments. He writes: “I can finally say the sentence RUBBER DUCKY RECORDS IS OPEN AGAIN! What a crazy journey!”

Now pottering around the canals of Manchester, vinyl seekers are invited to book ahead. “It’s 2 people per listening station so larger groups please book both decks. Take as long as you wish just be mindful of others.”
