Floating Points Uses Improvisation As Key On ‘Anasickmodular’

It's another potent symbol from 'Crush'...

Floating Points has shared his new piece 'Anasickmodular' – tune in now.

The producer's new album 'Crush' is billed as a direct, immediate, and intense return, one informed by the club experience.

'Anasickmodular' is indicative of the English artist's creative appetite, stemming from a live improvisation at Dekmantel two years ago.

Carrying this with him while on tour with his Ensemble, Floating Points then decided to tease out the ideas with his modular kit.

A storming, crisp, deeply physical return, it feels like a peak time banger as only Floating Points can make – surging, melodic, and impactful, it also surprises at every turn.

He explains…

'Anasickmodular' was a working title that stuck. The main pad audio and vocals are from a live improvisation at Dekmantel festival in 2017.

At some point on the tour we were in Sydney and Anna (who is half of the Hamill Industries team responsible for the live laser/bubble oscilloscope projections) was ill so, on an off day, I started a new project bringing the modular out of its box, hence the title. The second half of the track was recorded live in situ and is a lot of fun to play live!

Tune in now.

'Crush' will be released on October 18th – order it HERE. Catch Floating Points at London's Printworks on November 21st.
