Fleet Foxes Go Platinum

US group break barrier

Purveyors of tranquil Americana Fleet Foxes have broken a new barrier after their self-titled debut album was certified platinum for over 300,000 sales.

Hailing from Seattle, few would have predicted the success of Fleet Foxes when their debut EP landed on these shores just under a year ago.

Signed to Sub Pop, the group’s high harmonies and laid back roots-driven sound seemed to have captured the mood of the times, becoming a massive word of mouth success.

With very little hype Fleet Foxes’ self-titled debut album has remained in the charts for months, eventually rising to number three.

Just over a fortnight ago the album was declared gold for 100,000 sales, and this new landmark demonstrates just how popular this album has become.

With the group being nominated for ‘Best International Album’ at last night’s (February 18th) Brit Awards, expect more copies to go flying off the shelves.

Fleet Foxes are set to play the follow (long sold out) dates:

February
22 London Roundhouse
23 London Roundhouse
24 London Roundhouse
