Flaming Lips Cover NBC Theme

BB King, B-52s Also Record New Version

Oklahoma’s resident psychedelic odd balls The Flaming Lips have recorded a unique version of the NBC’s three note jingle that serves as the television network’s theme song.

The remake is part of a “national campaign calling for a 21st century reinvention of the 75-year-old television staple,” according to Entertainment Weekly. Wayne Coyne’s group of psychedelic wanderers will be joined by the likes of The B-52s, blues legend BB King and Bon Jovi’s Richie Sambora.

“The notes are set in stone as handed down from the Biblical creator,” quipped Coyne in a video capturing the band’s performance. “We think we’ll get played during ‘The Office’ or ’30 Rock’ or something like that.”

Videos of the unique performances will be aired during commercial breaks on NBC. During the Flaming Lips video the ever visually aware frontman Coyne plays a twin necked guitar, with one neck that resembles a controller for the video game ‘Guitar Hero’.

The Flaming Lips are currently gearing up to release their new film ‘Christmas On Mars’. A home made other worldly romp, it will be released in the UK soon.
