Fever Ray’s ‘Even It Out’ Video Is A John Waters Homage

It's a blast...

Fever Ray has shared new video ‘Even It Out’.

The synth auteur’s new album ‘Radical Romantics’ is out now, a fresh configuration of her groundbreaking artistry. Built with an array of imperious collaborators, the record is also a lot of fun, illustrating her surreal sense of humour.

It’s this facet that comes to the fore on ‘Even It Out’. The lyrics deal with seeking out revenge on a kid who bullied her son at school, while the video takes this to facial – and obscene – new levels.

Taking visual cues from the films of John Waters, it’s camp but equally NSFW. A homage to Susan Sontag and Divine’s portrayal of Dawn Davenport in Waters’ cult classic movie Female Trouble, it finds the central figure digging what seems to be a grave – before urinating on it at the end.

Oh, and watch out for cameos from Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, who co-produced and performed on ‘Even It Out’.

Tune in now.
