Femegades Rip It Up With ‘Daddy Says’

It's part of their uncompromising new EP...

Femegades return new single ‘Daddy Says’.

The band have played some stellar shows around London and beyond, with their feminist-leaning work fusing 90s alt-rock tropes with something emphatically DIY. Debut EP ‘Pornsick’ laid out their stall, lyrically uncompromising yet musically open in its approach, a safe space for anyone who wants to contribute.

Follow-up EP ‘Not All Mean’ hits home on September 1st, with Femegades previewing material with a sizzling show at Camden Rocks Presents.

Reminiscent of Riot Grrrl-era polemic, the EP issues a clarion call for others to follow. Take new single ‘Daddy Says’ with its punchy guitars, the stop-start rhythms, and that seismic vocal, embodying a lyric that truly takes no prisoners.

Femegades comment…

“For ‘Daddy Says’, we wanted to explore the disconnect between the exploitation of women’s bodies, and the expectations for our own children of any age. It is probably our darkest lyric yet. And with that in mind, we wanted to go with a change of pace sonically, with the more mellow, pop vibes there to disguise and hopefully draw people in to the theme.”

Tune in now.
