UK electronic figure feeo has shared beautiful new single ‘tnteen’.
The artist rose to prominence following her work alongside Loraine James in 2019, but took time to finesse her own solo endeavours. Recent EP ‘Ah, Hunger!’ was wonderful, a work of sheer magic that thrived on the unknown.
Out on March 21st, follow-on EP ‘run over’ pivots tnteen in a completely different direction. She comments:
“‘Ah, Hunger!’ was a dissection of scarcity; the absence of satisfaction, the politics of wanting. The ‘run over’ EP is, in a sense, the inverse of these themes, intended to be read in relation to ‘Ah, Hunger!’.
New song ‘tnteen’ is breathlessly alluring, the opaque electronics matched to a half-whispered vocal. Beneath the hazy gauze, however, lies something complex, with the lyrics pivoting between the personal and the political, digging into post-colonial inequality in the process.
A deeply intelligent, hugely striking piece of music, feeo comments:
“‘tnteen’ focusses on explosives as a physical and political representation of excess, directly relating to the exploitation and depletion of land through mining precious stones…”
Tune in now.
