Fans of hotly tipped indie upstarts Favours For Sailors have been left stunned after the band announced they are to split.
Favours For Sailors first burst onto the music scene with a series of sensational shows last year. Gathering a rabid cult following – some of whom seemed to follow them from gig to gig – the band penned a deal with Tough Love Records.
The band’s debut mini-album ‘Furious Sons’ showed a group with astonishing potential. Sure, it was rough around the edges but beneath the frenetic indie-pun lay a beating pop heart, and the rave reviews rolled in.
Clash snapped the band up to play in one of our regular Saturday Social events, and Favours For Sailors did not disappoint. Amps were tortured, minds were blown and fans gained as the group rampaged across the stage.

However all that will now soon be a memory. The band’s record company Tough Love informed fans earlier today (July 6th) that Favours For Sailors have decided to split.
“What a way to start a week. Some of you may have heard the news on the grapevine, but it’s only be properly confirmed today that Favours for Sailors have split up. We’re absolutely devastated, as they were amazing and worse still, there was so much good stuff to come” claimed the PR.
A statement from the band themselves reads:
“Sad news: our ship has been boarded by pirates, who have executed the crow’s nest and made the starboard walk the plank. The rumours are true – FAVOURS FOR SAILORS HAVE DECIDED TO CALL IT A DAY.”
“However, we have ONE MORE GIG, at Tough Love’s fourth birthday party, 25th July, at the Old Blue Last in Shoreditch. More details soon.”
Favours For Sailors finish by saying:
“Here’s an anodyne statement for a press release: ‘We’re unsure of how to keep the indie rock dynamic interesting and fresh in our current incarnation’. We will be posting a load of unreleased songs as soon as we can decide which ones won’t land us with a string of libel cases.”
So that’s that. Favours For Sailors will play one final show:
