Faroese Band Attempt Record

24 Gigs In 24 Hours

The North Sea’s top indie group Boys In A Band have attempted to break a world record by playing 24 gigs in 24 hours, across their native Faroes Islands.

The band took up the challenge last weekend (July 18th – 19th) in order to promote their debut album “Black Diamond Train”. The band are old friends of Clash, who profiled the burgeoning Faroe Islands scene last year.

The five piece as heroes in their homeland, with the gigs culminating in a massive show at the G! Festival on the 19th. The record attempt began at 7pm on July 18th with a short acoustic performance before the band then raced across the islands playing a series of shows to frequently bemused locals.

Although crowds were often sparse, the band always had an audience – despite the rural locations and frequently inhospitable gig times. Amongst the ‘venues’ were a performance on top of a public toilet and the inside of a cave!

The band played their final set at Faroe Islands’ massive G! Festival event. Boys In A Band are currently looking into whether or not this is a world record.

Boys In A Band will release their debut album “Black Diamond Train” in the UK later this year.
