American superstar emo rockers Fall Out Boy have confirmed details of their new retrospective.
Fall Out Boy formed in Chicago in 2001, influenced by post hardcore groups from the city. Given their name by a fan, the group’s pop majesty soon shone through achieving success with the independently released ‘Take This To Your Grave’.
An enormous word of mouth hit, heavy touring turned Fall Out Boy in the banner holders for a cult phenomenon. Suddenly, emo was everywhere and the group were being headhunted by some of the largest labels on the planet.
Snapped up by Island the group’s major label debut would turn Fall Out Boy into stadium rocking monsters. ‘From Under The Cork Tree’ was released in 2005, splitting critics and dividing music fans.
However the band inspired ferocious loyalty in their fans, which would sustain them through critical mauling. Singer Pete Wentz announced this summer that Fall Out Boy were going on an indefinite hiatus, confirming details of a new greatest hits.
‘Believers Never Die: Greatest Hits’ is due for release next month and contains some of the most vital tracks of the band’s career. Alongside some well known smash hits will sit rarer tracks, including the group’s new single ‘Alpha Dog’.
Also due for inclusion on the album is Fall Out Boy’s cover of ‘Beat It’ by the late King Of Pop Michael Jackson.
Aside from music, the package will include a DVD with fourteen Fall Out Boy music videos. Containing commentary throughout, this looks to be the definitive look at the band’s turbulent career.
