fabric have announced their own label imprint, fabric Originals.
Affirming their cultural impact across London nightlife, fabric Originals spans across the realms of electronic music. Slotting itself beside not only club residences, but a cultivated mix series and their Houndstooth label, it’s a move that encourages fabric to spotlight specialist acts and the forward-thinking.
The announcement arrives with a new split 12” from Chicago heavyweight Eris Drew and house mainstay Octo Octa. ‘Stars & Water’ takes listeners on a bpm-steering journey, unafraid to dabble in fast, mid and downtempos all across one track. Deeply immersing and groovy, Octa builds a special moment that transports itself from the more intimate day-to-day to the dance-floor. Alternatively, Drew’s ‘Day After A Night With U’ feels ceremonial and hard-hitting, commanding with its soulful vocals and acid breaks.
Structurally, the track lathers in escapism and afterglow. Since its return in 2017, fabric has repeatedly been hailed as not only one of the UK’s most important nightclub venues, but generated a global admiration and respect. Facilitating underground, grassroot genres such as dubstep, grime and breakbeat to find their crowds, the Farringdon location has consistently reached towards new niches and communities.
The imprint now calls upon the likes of Marcel Dettmann, I. JORDAN & SHERELLE, LCY to join its future releases.
A limited number of exclusive edition 12” fabric Originals will be available for purchase. These include the first three projects of the imprint, which see the production of Eris Drew & Octo Octa, DJ Bone and Helena Hauff truly flourish.
Tune in now…
