Ezra Collective have shared new track ‘Ego Killah’.
The London jazz group are back, with new album ‘Where I’m Meant To Be’ landing via Partisan on November 4th. New cut ‘Ego Killah’ is online now, and it taps into the group’s mutual love of system culture.
Loaded with a low-end swagger, the heavyweight riddim affords Ezra Collective space for expression, taking the skanking percussive sway in different directions.
Deft and melodic, their jazz excursions are designed to lift your expectations, and – as the title suggests – trim back your ego.
Bandleader Femi Koleoso says…
At the very heart of Ezra Collective is the influence of reggae, dub and sound system culture. Sound systems such as Channel One, Aba Shanti-I and Jah Shaka.
This title, ‘Ego Killah’ is one we can all relate to. It’s the point in a journey where you become your own worst enemy. Where progression has to happen on the inside before you can see the fruit on the outside. The ability to kill your ego will serve you on your journey going forward. Sometimes where you’re meant to be, hasn’t happened yet, because of your own ego – that’s when you need the Ego Killah.
Tune in now.
