exmagician Return With Joyous Album ‘Sit Tight’

Check it out now...

Northern Irish duo exmagician have shared new album ‘Sit Tight’ in full.

The band have deep roots, forged through the friendship between Daniel Todd and Jamies Smith. Born from the ashes of previous band Cashier No. 9, exmagician signed to Bella Union for their magnificent debut ‘Job Done’.

Blending psych-pop aspects with folk, the group earned comparisons to the Beta Band, while the strong individuality of their songwriting stood apart from their peers.

Since then, they’ve returned to DIY pathways, while also focussing on their respective families. Returning with recent single ‘Sharpen These’, the pair have completed work on their first album in eight years – and it’s a thing of wonder.

Built over a series of months, if not years, new album ‘Sit Tight’ is a marvellous return. Beatles-esque in its use of melodies, you can also hear aspects of XTC sitting amongst their staunch originality.

Returning to their exacting methodologies, the band comment: “It hasn’t changed that much over the years. Typically, we’re not in the same room sculpting ideas. It develops individually, working best in short bursts.”

Laden with colour and subtle invention, ‘Sit Tight’ deserves to reach as wide an audience as possible.

Tune in now.
