Evian Christ will release his debut album ‘Revanchist’ on October 20th.
The producer made his debut on illustrious electronic stable Warp Records in 2020, with his excellent ‘Ultra’ release. As lockdown eased his trance parties have become essential, dipping into often overlooked area of club culture, which decontextualising those tropes from a fresh angle.
Debut album ‘Revanchist’ offers a widescreen, in-depth take on these influences, with Evian Christ flexing his creativity across eight tracks.
Out on October 20th via Warp Records, the project boasts cover art crafted by long-standing collaborator and celebrated graphic designer David Rudnick. In true Evian Christ style it’s a startling blend of influences – it features works by 19th century Norwegian landscape painter Lars Hertervig and British video artist Chris Bucklow.
In a neat twist, the digital and limited vinyl release will also be joined by a homage to that fine 90s format – the maxi-CD. Evian Christ has prepared a limited CD edition, housed in a screen printed slimpack jewel-case with five-colour printed PVC inlay and wrap around sticker.
New cut ‘On Embers’ is online now, and it’s a real rush – the faint wisps of trance nostalgia are blown away by his head-long charge into the future.
Backed by some terrific visuals, Evian Christ really lays down a marker for the album as a whole.
Tune in now.
