Everything Everything Talk New LP

Tour bus used as a drum kit

Manchester based newcomers Everything Everything have spoken about their recording of their debut album.

Releasing a handful of limited edition singles, Everything Everything somehow managed to become one of the most talked about acts in the UK. Spearheading a Renaissance in their home town, the band eventually signed to Geffen after a chase involving several huge international labels.

Settling down to record their debut album, Everything Everything decided to relax and experiment. Speaking to the BBC, the Manchester group revealed that at one point they began using their van as a drum kit.

“Our now famous van made it onto the record because we just played it like a drum kit,” says Jeremy. “We also played some sheets of corrugated and a ladder and a big oil tanker thing which was used to heat the complex.”

“She’s succumbing to dementia so we had to immortalise her on record,” he continued. “She’s definitely a she, and she’s very temperamental.”

“You can’t hear anything, you can’t move, you can’t taste, you can’t talk to each other, it takes ages to get anywhere,” says Jon recalling journeys in the van. “If you listen to music in it you’ve got to turn it so loud that you get out and your ears are ringing.”

Before the release of their debut album Everything Everything have a much anticipated new single. ‘Schoolin” is the band’s first release for Geffen and sparks a summer of activity for the band, including their biggest UK tour to date.

Everything Everything will release their debut album later this year.
