What connects Jersey Club, left-field pop, and golf? Brighton’s EVA might well hold the answer on her new single ‘My One’.
An electronic artist who plays her own rules, EVA is deeply enmeshed within club culture. Citing everything from UKG to deep house and DNB as points of inspiration, she is able to blend this with a subtle but entrancing pop touch.
New single ‘My One’ is a superb example of where she’s heading. A fun, addictive slice of pop electronica, it blends Jersey Club aspects – so prevalent across UK music as a whole right now – with dollops of light.
The delicious melody is paired to some fun words, with EVA using that visual theme of golf as a place to (pun intended) tee off from.
She comments…
“My One’ is a playful anthem that incorporates the Jersey Club sound. The track uses the 160 BPM tempo used in Liquid, and the prominent kick sequence that characterises the Jersey Club sound – yet ‘My One’ holds its own sonic idiosyncrasies. These include a funky bassline break alongside syncopated snares created from sampling ASMR golf swing sounds, feeding into the song’s visual theme of golf.”
