Indie duo Euros Child and Norman Blake have teamed up, crafting an album of new material.
Teenage Fanclub’s Norman Blake remains surprisingly unaffected by twenty years in the music industry. The indie icons are revered by their fans, yet their self-deprecating stance ensures that they remain music fans at heart.
Songwriter Norman Blake is a fan of Welsh performer Euros Child, with the pair teaming up earlier this year. The collaboration has resulted in a batch of new material, including an upcoming EP and album.
Writing under the name ‘Jonny’ the pair have crafted some homespun, whimsical pieces of indie pop. Influenced by 60s pop and 80s indie the two songwriter have signed to Turnstile offshoot Alsatian Records.
Compiling songs over the past couple of years, the two songwriters have now announced their arrival to the world. Jonny are set to release a free EP next month, appropriately titled ‘Free EP’.
Available to download from November 1st, ‘Free EP’ contains three new songs and a cover of 60’s band Twenty Third Turnoff’s ‘Michael Angelo’.
Jonny are planning to release their debut album early next year, with the pair set to head out on tour. Euros Child and Norman Blake are planning to launch the dates in London on January 19th, before heading off around the country.
The shows move across the UK with dates in Brighton, Cambridge and York set to follow. Norman Blake will bring Jonny to his hometown of Glasgow on February 19th, with the tour finishing on February 21st in Sunderland.
