Eugene McGuinness has released brand new track ‘Lion’ as a free download.
It’s been a while. Fresh of face and sturdy in his songwriting, Eugene McGuinness released his debut album back in 2009. An indie troubadour, the singer seemed to set interviews alight with the sheer force of his ideas.
Perhaps it’s his imagination which has held him back. Eugene McGuinness followed his debut album with the full band, garage rock indebted EP ‘Glue’ before hooking up with old friend Miles Kane.
The pair know one another from their Liverpool days, with a youthful Eugene McGuinness frequently supporting Kane’s first band The Little Flames. Helping to bring the singer’s debut solo effort to fruition, McGuinness then finally turned his attention to new material under his own name.
A second LP is apparently well under way, with new cut ‘Lion’ the first offering from the album. Says Eugene: “I really don’t know what to say about this one. It’s just meant to be the biggest ‘fuck off’ my soul could muster.”
