New EP due in October

Brighton based trio Esben And The Witch have signed a record deal with Matador, and are preparing to release a new EP.

Emerging last year, Esben And The Witch have a chillingly unique sound. Musically, the band recall the folk template of acts like Meursault and Joanna Newsom, but with a stark atmosphere all of their own.

Playing a series of shows this summer, the band's self released debut EP '33' is long since sold out. Hugely praised, the trio's songwriting moves from deeply affecting noir to a manic all out bedlam.

With a number of labels chasing the group's signature, it's the birthday crew at Matador who have emerged triumphant. Esben And The Witch are set to sign with the label, celebrating its 21st year of making music.

Immediately returning to the studio, the trio are putting the finishing touches to a new EP. 'Marching Song' will be a strictly limited edition 12 inch, containing three tracks demonstrating the breadth of the band's songwriting.

The breakneck title track will be matched by ‘Done Because We Are Too Menny’ and ‘Souvenirs’, with the package due for release on October 11th. Accompanying the release is an unusual video shot by David Procter and Peter King from the The Agenda Collective.

Far from your average glossy fare, the video perfectly matches Esben And The Witch's stubborn yet affecting sound. Watch the video HERE.

Meanwhile, the band are not set to rest on their laurels. Esben And The Witch are working on their debut album, and have been confirmed to play new label Matador's birthday party in Las Vegas.

Set to support Foals on their Stateside jaunt, the band will return from the States in November for a brief UK tour.

Esben And The Witch are due to release 'Marching Song' on October 11th. British dates are as follows:

10 London Electrowerkz
11 Manchester Deaf Institute
12 Glasgow Captains Rest
14 Leeds Constellations Festival
