Errance has shared his brand new single ‘Guidance’, released via Société Holographique de Montréal.
A momentous debut from the Canadian producer, director and composer, the track is a dynamic exploration of house and electronica. Drawing inspiration from nature, the record carries a pure energy, building a unique sense of movement through its warped, glass-like production.
A highlight of Gabriel Gagnon’s creative vision, the release immerses the artist into his solo musical project. Having worked on material with Daniela Andrade, MayFly and high-fashion campaigns such as Yves Saint-Laurent and Louis Vuitton, Gagnon has developed a refined ear for experimentation. First stumbling across his passion for production through his father’s Yamaha PSR-32 synthesiser, the riser has continued to venture into his craft through collaborative work, and now a solo career.
Embellished with resonant synths and a versatile percussion, ‘Guidance’ marks a turning point for Errance. Guided by the work of Floating Points, Mount Kimbie and Max Cooper, the release traverses between frosty footsteps through nature, into an atmospheric, late-night club setting.
Speaking on the track, Gagnon says: “The inspiration for this track struck me during a hike last spring; the sound of the melted snow beneath my feet, the birds chirping around me, and the echoes of my voice against the rocks of the national park all played a part in shaping its conception. I recorded various sounds to capture that specific moment. My aim was to convey a sense of elevation, a continual ascension. ‘Guidance’ is the balance between my electronic, organic, and sensory worlds, drawing inspiration from the perpetual movement of nature that surrounds us. It beckons you to forge ahead with determination, to contemplate the horizon, introspect and maintain focus. Through this release, I feel a longing to break free, to embark on a new chapter in my life, and to generously share my sound…”
