The main creative duo in legendary 60s group Blind Faith Eric Clapton and Steve Winewood are to reunite onstage again for a full scale tour.
Eric Clapton has just left the power trio Cream when he approached Steve Winwood about making some music together. The pair shared a similar background, having earned their stripes performing on the British R&B circuit.
Winwood sang with The Spencer Davis Group before forming Traffic. The pair united on Blind Faith, recording a number of seminal sides before splitting leaving fans wondering what might have been.
The two musicians reunited last year at New York’s Madison Square Garden, but this time round will go on the road for a full tour of the United States.
“It’s a great, enjoyable thing for me to play with Eric,” Winwood told Rolling Stone. “It’s a little bit surprising, the way there seems to be this big amount of anticipation — but I’m certainly very excited about it.”
Clapton seems in the mood to re-visit his past, after reforming Cream and arranging concerts with Jeff Beck.
The Clapton / Winwood tour begins on June 10th.
