Massive American record label Epic has appointed a new president, with songwriter Amanda Ghost set to take charge of a roster that includes Franz Ferdinand, Modest Mouse and more.
The Stateside label is one of the biggest on the planet, boasting several massive artists. Amanda Ghost has plenty of experience in the music industry, having worked as a songwriter for years. Her biggest hit (though loathed by many) is James Blunt’s global smash ‘You’re Beautiful’.
Ghost has also written for Shakira, Daniel Merriweather and Jordin Sparks. In a new statement Amanda Ghost admitted “I’m not a conventional choice as an executive in the music business.”
“But it is testament to the new mood at Sony where content is now king and the music business is being put back in the hands of creative talent such as myself.”
Epic Records are owned by Sony, and their biggest act is probably grunge behemoths Pearl Jam.
