The engineer responsible for Metallica’s comeback album “Death Magnetic” has now criticized the album, with many fans stating that they prefer the Guitar Hero version to the CD version.
Although the band have hit number one on both sides of the Atlantic with new album “Death Magnetic”, many fans are still not happy. Many fans have been complaining on internet forums that the version of the album on Guitar Hero is superior to the CD version, which they say lacks dynamic range.
With fans getting hot under the collar, engineer Ted Jensen has apparently entered the fray. Jensen was responsible for mastering the album, and knows better than anyone the pitfalls involved.
“I’m certainly sympathetic to your reaction, I get to slam my head against that brick wall every day,” he wrote. “In this case the mixes were already brick-walled before they arrived at my place. Suffice to say I would never be pushed to overdrive things as far as they are here. Believe me, I’m not proud to be associated with this one, and we can only hope that some good will come from this in some form of backlash against volume above all else.”
