London composer Emma-Jean Thackray has shared the deluxe edition of her album ‘Yellow’.
An artist who sits at the cutting edge of British music, Emma-Jean Thackray blends club tropes with avant jazz to construct something truly original. Her album ‘Yellow’ landed almost 12 months ago, and in that time she’s hit the road, allowing the material to change, and shift from performance to performance.
Improvisatory by nature, Emma-Jean Thackray’s work carries a heady, entrancing appeal. Returning to ‘Yellow’, a new Deluxe Edition has just gone online, featuring a full bonus disc of live recordings, and brand new tracks.
The highlights include live sessions at Church Studios in North London, Wiki’s feature on ‘Golden Green’, and new cut ‘The Road Trip To Saturn’. Heady fare, her music moves between deep, jazz-focussed composition and an almost rave-like appeal.
She comments…
“During the past year of touring I’ve written new arrangements, the music has evolved, and it almost feels like a new record in some ways. These new live versions living together with the remixes is cos I always wanna grow; I’m never satisfied, and never still. Always moving.”
Tune in now.
