It's a blend of Eastern and Western influences...

Alt-R&B riser emir taha has shared his new 'Hoppa Pt. 1' EP in full.

Born in Turkey, he's since moved to the United States, and this East-meets-West clash informs much of his songwriting.

Taking imperial R&B tropes and blending it with aspects of his heritage, it matches Turkish melodies to trap production.

Out now, new EP 'Hoppa Pt. 1' boasts production from Detonate and Jay Moon, while previous singles gained co-signs from Wale and Benny Blanco.

A work shot through with a highly personal sense of emotion, 'Hoppa Pt. 1' charts some emphatically original ground.

“I found inspiration for my EP in the culture clash I experienced and observed while living away from home,” Emir explains.

“‘Silence’ is all about the emptiness you feel when you let someone go. The search for new strength and stability while feeling isolated from the outside world. During this period silence can become the most unbearable sound.”
