One of America’s most controversial figures, it seems Eminem’s notoriety could be about to extend to his family with younger brother Nathan Mathers being arrested in Detroit.
Eminem’s back story suggests that his family life was never exactly happy. His mother has become a figure of scorn in his songs and interviews, raising her family in near poverty in Detroit.
The rapper’s background has fuelled some of his best work, providing an everyman appeal to the star. In the film of his life ‘8 Mile’ the rapper is portrayed as a sensitive soul, far away from the demon of Middle America.
Eminem’s brother Nathan Mathers is also a rapper. At just 23 the unknown musician is much younger than his notorious sibling, but seems to have the same bent for destruction after being arrested for drunk driving in Detroit.
According to American website ClickOnDetroit Mathers apparently failed to pull over for an ambulance, and failed sobriety tests. His blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit, according to police.
Nathan Mathers is set to appear in court on May 7th, after being released on a personal bond. It is not known is Eminem will appear in court with his brother, with his long awaited new album ‘Relapse’ due for release at the end of April.
The rapper has already debuted his single ‘We Made You’ and while few have heard the finished album, it is almost certain to be one of the year’s defining releases.
In a recent interview Eminem told XXL Magazine his pain after the death of close friend Proof, leading to almost four years of total silence from the rap megastar. However Eminem pulled himself together, and broke his silence with the autobiography ‘The Way I Am’ which was released last year.
